Finance and tax certification exams
Tax and finance exams, starting with the IRS Special Enrollment Examination (SEE). Passing all three parts, then a suitability check, makes you an enrolled agent: a tax practitioner licensed by the IRS with unlimited rights to represent taxpayers before it.
| Part | Covers | Scored questions |
|---|---|---|
| Part 1 | Individuals | 85 |
| Part 2 | Businesses | 85 |
| Part 3 | Representation, practices and procedures | 85 |
You can take the parts in any order. Each passed part stays valid for three years, so the whole credential can be spread over several testing windows. How to become an enrolled agent sets out the full route.
