SAP-C03 study resources: official sources

Updated October 30, 2026

The best starting points for SAP-C03 are all from AWS: the exam page, the exam guide, AWS documentation and the Well-Architected Framework. Skill Builder offers exam preparation on top of that. Nothing here requires a third-party product, and braindumps are not an option (see the end of this page).

1. The AWS exam page

The certification page for Solutions Architect – Professional is the authority on dates, format, fee, languages and delivery. Check it before booking, since the exam is changing from SAP-C02 to SAP-C03 and details are updated there first.

2. The exam guide

AWS publishes exam guides on docs.aws.amazon.com. The SAP-C03 exam guide is published. It has one page per domain with task statements and skills, the weights (25%, 25%, 15%, 15%, 20%), lists of in-scope and out-of-scope services, and a comparison of SAP-C02 and SAP-C03. The older SAP-C02 exam guide has four different domains, so use it only as a reference for the outgoing exam.

Do three things with the SAP-C03 guide:

  1. List every task statement and rate yourself 1 to 5 on each.
  2. Compare the in-scope service list with what you have used.
  3. Rework the study plan around the gaps.

3. AWS documentation and whitepapers

Professional questions are decided by service behaviour, limits and trade-offs, and the documentation is where those are stated. Prioritise:

TopicWhere to read
Multi-account governanceAWS Organizations and Control Tower user guides
NetworkingVPC, Transit Gateway, PrivateLink, Direct Connect guides
ResilienceReliability pillar of the AWS Well-Architected Framework; AWS Fault Injection Service, Resilience Hub and Application Recovery Controller guides
SecurityIAM, KMS and Security pillar
MigrationAWS Prescriptive Guidance migration strategy material
CostCost Optimization pillar; Savings Plans documentation
Generative AIAmazon Bedrock user guide, including Guardrails and AgentCore
DataLake Formation, Apache Iceberg on AWS and Clean Rooms guides

The announcement for SAP-C03 names Fault Injection Service, Resilience Hub, Application Recovery Controller, Bedrock, AgentCore, Guardrails, VPC Lattice, ECS Service Connect, Lake Formation, Iceberg, Clean Rooms and AWS KMS post-quantum algorithms. Those are worth reading early. The announcement also names Bedrock Guardrails, AWS Systems Manager runbooks, Step Functions, serverless data pipelines, container image security and Amazon VPC Lattice among the skills. The Well-Architected Framework is the lens AWS says the Professional exam is built on.

4. AWS Skill Builder

AWS’s certification page lists an Exam Prep Plan on Skill Builder for the Professional exam. Its components include exam-style practice questions, an official practice question set, digital courses, Builder Labs, Cloud Quest, AWS Jam, flashcards, instructor-led walkthroughs, AWS SimuLearn and an official practice exam. AWS lists these for the current exam page. Which items are free and which need a subscription differs by item, so check the plan on Skill Builder before assuming cost, and check whether an item has been updated for SAP-C03.

5. Your own AWS account

For a professional-level exam, reading is not enough. A sandbox account with a budget alarm lets you build the things the questions describe: two accounts under an organization with an SCP, a Transit Gateway with two VPCs, a warm-standby database, a Step Functions workflow. Delete resources afterwards.

6. This site

Use the sample questions for style, the format page for logistics, and SAP-C03 vs SAP-C02 to see which topics are new.

What to avoid

Braindump sites sell recalled exam questions. They breach AWS’s candidate rules, can lead to a revoked certification and teach recognition rather than design judgement. Because scenarios in the updated exam include new services, recalled content for the old exam is also likely to be out of date.

A simple order

  1. Read the exam page and the SAP-C03 guide.
  2. Read the Well-Architected pillars.
  3. Work through the documentation for weak areas with hands-on tasks.
  4. Practise official questions under time, then review errors.
  5. Book through the exam-day guide checklist in mind.
