N10-009 is the current version of CompTIA Network+, launched on June 20, 2024. It is the vendor-neutral networking certification that sits between A+ and Security+ in CompTIA’s core sequence, and it remains one of the most widely recognised entry points into infrastructure work.
CompTIA recommends A+ certification plus 9 to 12 months of hands-on experience in a junior network administrator or network support role. Nothing is enforced.

Five domains, and the distribution says something important: troubleshooting is the largest at 24%. Network+ is not primarily a theory exam. Nearly a quarter of it asks what you would do when something does not work, and the performance-based questions concentrate here.
Concepts at 23% is the other pillar — addressing, the OSI model, protocols and topologies — and it underpins everything else. Security is the smallest at 14%; depth there belongs to Security+.
Format at a glance
A maximum of 90 questions in 90 minutes, mixing multiple choice with performance-based questions. The passing score is 720 on a scale of 100–900.
Offered in English, German, Japanese, Portuguese and Spanish. CompTIA gives an estimated retirement around 2027, roughly three years after launch.
