DVA-C03: AWS Developer Associate

DVA-C03 is the updated exam for AWS Certified Developer – Associate. AWS’s exam guide lists DVA-C03 as in use beginning December 1, 2026, and the last day to take DVA-C02 as November 30, 2026. AWS’s training blog post of 27 October 2026 says registration for DVA-C03 is open, while a note on the exam guide page still says registration opens December 1, 2026; check your AWS Certification account for current booking dates.

The format in the AWS exam guide is 65 questions (50 scored and 15 unscored) in 130 minutes, for a fee of 150 USD, with a passing score of 720 on a scale of 100 to 1,000. AWS recommends at least a year of hands-on experience developing and maintaining applications on AWS.

AWS describes the update as adding a new AI security task (Task 2.3), AI-assisted development skills in Domains 1, 3 and 4, container image and orchestration skills, and presigned URLs, while consolidating some skill groups such as DynamoDB and security. Selecting foundation models, engineering prompts and designing retrieval-augmented generation architectures are out of scope.

What the exam covers

Development with AWS Services is the largest domain, and Security is the next largest, which is also where AWS has added a new AI security task. Each domain has three tasks.
