DP-750, Implementing Data Engineering Solutions Using Azure Databricks, is Microsoft’s exam for data engineers who build and run pipelines on Azure Databricks. Passing it earns the Microsoft Certified: Azure Databricks Data Engineer Associate credential. The exam tests whether you can set up a workspace, secure and govern data in Unity Catalog, ingest and transform it with SQL and Python, and then deploy, schedule, monitor and tune the result.
It is a Microsoft exam about a Databricks product, which makes it different from the vendor’s own certifications. Microsoft publishes a passing score (700 on a scale of 1 to 1000), a duration (120 minutes) and a skills outline with percentage weights, and it expects you to know the Azure side as well: Microsoft Entra, Azure Key Vault, Azure Data Factory and Azure Monitor all appear in the outline.
The exam is generally available. The English version is updated on October 19, 2026, and the exam format page explains what changes.
What the exam covers
| Skill area | Weight |
|---|---|
| Set up and configure an Azure Databricks environment | 15–20% |
| Secure and govern Unity Catalog objects | 15–20% |
| Prepare and process data | 30–35% |
| Deploy and maintain data pipelines and workloads | 30–35% |
Two areas make up roughly two thirds of the exam: preparing data (ingestion, modelling, transformation and quality) and deploying and maintaining pipelines (Lakeflow Jobs, bundles, monitoring and tuning). Compute choices and Unity Catalog security are smaller but are where candidates with only notebook experience tend to lose marks.
