DP-700, Implementing Data Engineering Solutions Using Microsoft Fabric, is Microsoft’s exam for data engineers who build analytics solutions on Fabric: people who load data into OneLake, transform it with SQL, PySpark and KQL, orchestrate it with pipelines, and keep it secure and fast. Passing it earns the Microsoft Certified: Fabric Data Engineer Associate credential.

The exam is about the full lifecycle of a Fabric data solution, not one tool. You choose between Dataflows Gen2, notebooks, pipelines and T-SQL; you load data in full or incrementally; you process streams with Eventstreams, Spark structured streaming or KQL; you apply workspace, item, row-level and OneLake security; and you diagnose a failed pipeline or a slow Spark job. Microsoft expects you to be comfortable with SQL, PySpark and Kusto Query Language.

What the exam covers

Skill areaWeight
Implement and manage an analytics solution30–35%
Ingest and transform data30–35%
Monitor and optimize an analytics solution30–35%

The three areas are weighted equally in the outline, so there is no domain you can afford to skip. The English outline is updated on October 19, 2026, with minor changes to workspace settings and performance optimization.

Where to start
