DP-600 October 2026 update: what changed
The English version of DP-600 is updated on October 19, 2026, and Microsoft’s study guide now publishes the skills measured as of that date. The outline has three domains: Maintain a data analytics solution (25–30%), Prepare data (45–50%) and Implement and manage semantic models (25–30%). Microsoft’s page says localised versions follow later, so the outline that applies to you depends on your language and booking date.
What is officially confirmed
From Microsoft Learn:
- The certification page states that the English version will be updated on October 19, 2026 and points to the study guide for details.
- The study guide has a heading “Skills measured as of October 19, 2026”, with the audience profile and the three domains.
- English is always updated first. Other languages are updated roughly eight weeks later, though Microsoft says it may not always meet that schedule.
- The study guide includes a change log that compares the previous and the new skills. The visible rows list the audience profile and Prepare data as “No change”, and Query and analyze data as “Minor”.
This site does not reproduce the previous outline, because the official page shows only the new one. The previous version had four skill areas, so the domain structure is different from today’s three.
The new outline at a glance
| Domain | Weight | Sub-areas |
|---|---|---|
| Maintain a data analytics solution | 25–30% | Implement security and governance; maintain the analytics development lifecycle |
| Prepare data | 45–50% | Get data; transform data; query and analyze data |
| Implement and manage semantic models | 25–30% | Design and build semantic models; optimize enterprise-scale semantic models |
Objectives worth noticing
Some objectives in the new outline are specific enough that you should confirm you have practised them:
- Discovering data with the OneLake catalog and the Real-Time hub.
- Implementing OneLake integration for eventhouse and semantic models.
- Choosing between Direct Lake on OneLake and Direct Lake on the SQL analytics endpoint, and configuring fallback and refresh behaviour.
- Windowing functions in DAX, calculation groups, dynamic format strings and field parameters.
- Power BI Desktop projects (
.pbip), deployment pipelines, impact analysis and the XMLA endpoint. - File-level access control alongside row, column and object-level access.
These are in the outline now, so study them whichever date you sit the exam.
What to do depending on your booking
| Situation | Action |
|---|---|
| English exam on or after October 19, 2026 | Use the new outline; this guide matches it |
| English exam before October 19, 2026 | Check the study guide and the exam page at booking to see which version applies |
| Localised exam soon after October 19 | You may still be tested on the previous version; check the language-specific details |
| Studying from older books or videos | Compare each objective against the new outline and fill the gaps |
How to adapt your revision
- Open the study guide and copy the objective list into a checklist.
- Mark every item as “built it”, “read about it” or “never seen”.
- Spend your time on the third group, weighted by domain.
- Since the product evolves, follow Microsoft’s Fabric documentation for features that are new.
- Use the free official practice assessment, but remember it may lag an outline update.
Why the weights matter
With Prepare data at 45–50%, almost half of your marks come from getting, transforming and querying data. The two other domains share the rest about equally. Spend your revision time in that proportion, and treat the governance and lifecycle objectives as a set of small, memorisable facts.
