The Databricks Certified Machine Learning Professional exam assesses your ability to use Databricks Machine Learning to perform advanced machine learning in production. Where the ML Associate tests whether you can build a model on the platform, this tests whether you can run one properly once it is live.
Databricks recommends 1+ years of hands-on experience with the tasks in the exam guide — double the Associate’s six months. There are no prerequisites and the Associate is not required.

Three sections, and an unusually stark distribution: two sections of 44% each, and one of 12%.
That shape is the most useful thing to know before you start. Model development and ML Ops are worth 88% between them — around 52 of the 59 scored questions. Deployment, which many candidates expect to dominate a production-focused exam, is about seven questions.
The lesson: this is not an exam about getting models into production. It is an exam about developing them rigorously and operating them responsibly once they are there.
Format at a glance
59 scored questions in 120 minutes, multiple choice, online or at a test centre. The fee is $200 and the credential is valid for two years, with recertification on the current version.
Like the Data Analyst Associate, this exam is offered in English only.
