Databricks Data Analyst Associate renewal

Updated October 9, 2026

The Databricks Certified Data Analyst Associate stays valid for two years from the award date, and renewing means sitting the full current live exam again at the standard $200 fee. After a fail there is no attempt cap, but 14 days must pass between attempts and every attempt is paid. The sources are the exam’s certification page and the Databricks certification FAQ.

The two-year clock for the analyst badge

The exam page says recertification is required every two years to maintain certified status. The FAQ adds that the badge expires two years after it was awarded and that Databricks notifies holders before a certification expires. The clock runs from the award date, not from the day you booked.

Nothing published says whether passing early restarts the period from the new award date. If a job contract or client requirement hinges on exact dates, ask Databricks support rather than assuming.

Renewal is a re-sit, not a refresher

There is no continuing-education scheme and no shorter renewal test on the pages checked. Databricks says: “To recertify, you will need to take the full current live exam.” Consequences specific to this exam:

  1. The paper will probably differ from yours. Databricks states there will only ever be one version of each exam, with the exam guide as source of truth. The guide linked from the page carries an October 2025 date in its file name, and the page also links an AI prep guide. The syllabus now includes AI/BI Genie spaces at 12%, so a holder from an earlier era faces content that did not exist when they first passed.
  2. The fee is the same. The FAQ says all Databricks Certification exams cost 200 USD. No renewal discount is described on either page.
  3. No other badge renews it. Databricks does not say that passing another exam, such as the Data Engineer Associate, refreshes this one. Each credential shows its own expiry; check each.

Databricks 14-day retake rule for this exam

QuestionDatabricks answer
Attempt limitNone: retake as many times as you like
Wait between attempts14 days
Retake feeSame as the original; no free retakes
Retake vouchersDatabricks states it does not issue them

Passing scores are not published; the FAQ explains they are set statistically and can change. Unofficial results appear right after the exam, and Databricks reviews the proctor recording of passing attempts before the badge is posted. That means a pass can take a short while to turn into a badge.

Use the 14 days on the weak sections from your result. The study plan and the sample questions suit a focused second pass better than rebooking at once.

Rescheduling and what is not published

  • Online proctored: reschedule more than 24 hours before the slot.
  • Test centre: reschedule more than 72 hours before the slot.
  • Missing the deadline triggers a rescheduling fee, per the FAQ. The amount is not stated on the page.
  • Language: this exam is English only, so a retake does not offer another language, unlike some other Databricks exams.
  • Accommodations: the FAQ does not cover them; the page points to certification support.
  • Lapse: no grace period or reinstatement route is described. An expired credential means registering and passing again.

Databricks’ terms also reserve the right to change programme rules, which is why exam changes is worth a periodic look, and exam day covers the online proctoring routine.

Ten years of keeping the analyst badge current

Databricks states one fee for all its certification exams and one retake rule, and the FAQ describes no renewal route other than the full exam. Other vendors run different mechanisms, so cost planning differs; see certification costs. Over a decade, holding this badge continuously means roughly five paid sittings at today’s fee, before any failed attempts.

Where the credential leads while it is current is covered in career and next steps.
