Agentforce Specialist renewal and retakes
The Salesforce Certified Agentforce Specialist does not renew by retaking the exam. You keep it by completing one Trailhead maintenance badge per year, and Salesforce’s schedule currently puts the Agentforce Specialist badge in the Summer ‘26 cycle: available from August 2026, due August 2027. Miss the due date and the credential expires. There is no fee for the badge itself, as far as Salesforce’s published pages show.
How the yearly badge works
Salesforce’s Certification Maintenance Schedule states three rules that matter here: each certification needs one maintenance badge a year, badges appear with the Winter, Spring or Summer release and fall due a year later, and you must complete every module in the badge. After you finish, allow up to 24 hours for your certification status to update.
The release cycles on that page, in Pacific Time, are:
| Release | Badge available | Badge due |
|---|---|---|
| Winter ‘26 | 11 December 2025 | 4 December 2026 |
| Spring ‘26 | 23 April 2026 | 16 April 2027 |
| Summer ‘26 | 27 August 2026 | 20 August 2027 |
Salesforce notes the dates are subject to change. The Agentforce Specialist entry sits in the Summer ‘26 row, so the Winter and Spring dates above apply to other credentials, not to yours. Check your own certification record, because that is where Salesforce shows your actual requirement.
The size of the badge has changed
The badge is light. Salesforce’s maintain-your-certifications trail lists the Agentforce Specialist Certification Maintenance (Summer ‘26) module at 100 points and about 5 minutes. The earlier Summer ‘25 module was 400 points and about 35 minutes, across four units covering Agentforce concepts, Data 360, Service and Sales updates. So the yearly obligation can range from a coffee break to most of an evening, depending on how much changed. Do not plan around the 5-minute figure for next year.
If the deadline passes
Salesforce’s expiration overview says missing the date expires every certification that badge maintains. Two paths follow:
- Recently expired: you can open a support case and request a reinstatement review. Salesforce says this is decided case by case and approval is not guaranteed. The same route is open if you never received the maintenance email, though Salesforce also says you should not rely on reminder emails.
- Expired for more than one cycle: the standard path is to retake the full proctored exam.
The overview does not describe a fee for reinstatement or a grace period, so assume neither exists. Dependent credentials can expire together; that cascade is described for prerequisite chains such as the architect track, and Agentforce Specialist has no enforced prerequisite, so it does not sit under another credential’s expiry.
Old holders and the rename
Credentials earned as AI Specialist were converted to Agentforce Specialist on 3 March 2025, and holders did not retake the exam, per Salesforce Ben. That report also said anyone certified before August 2025 had to complete the Summer ‘25 module. Because the module moves each cycle, the practical rule is simply: do the current badge before its due date.
Failing the exam: fees and waiting periods
The retake fee is USD 100 against a USD 200 registration fee, as the exam format page lists. Salesforce’s own retake article was not available when this page was written. A Trailhead community answer quoting it describes the sequence below, so treat it as reported rather than confirmed:
- After a first failed attempt in a release cycle, wait 24 hours.
- After a second failure, wait 14 days.
- After a third failure, wait until the next release cycle begins, when the count resets.
Salesforce also ran a first-attempt-free offer for this credential under its AI for All initiative, reported to have ended on 31 December 2025. A separate free-retake promotion for 2026 to 2027 exists for some Salesforce exams, with a September 2026 opt-in deadline, but no official source confirms it covers Agentforce Specialist. Check Pearson VUE before assuming it does.
What is not confirmed
- Salesforce’s official retake policy text (waiting periods and attempt limits).
- Score-report, appeal and accommodation rules specific to this exam.
- Whether next year’s badge will again be short.
If you are still deciding whether to sit the exam at all, the career page covers where it leads, and the site’s certification costs overview puts the yearly commitment next to other vendors’ renewal models.
