A real percentage, not a scaled score

Unusually among the certifications covered here, Salesforce publishes a plain 72% rather than a scaled score on some arbitrary range. With 60 scored questions, that means you need 44 correct.

That is a concrete target, and it makes practice scoring meaningful in a way it is not on scaled exams. Aim comfortably above it — mid-80s on realistic practice material — because question difficulty varies.

Up to five additional unscored questions are randomly mixed in and are not identified. They do not affect your result, but they do consume time.

Time

105 minutes for up to 65 delivered questions is roughly 97 seconds each. Comfortable for multiple choice, with no performance-based simulations to eat the clock.

Section weighting

SectionWeightApprox. scored questions
AI Agents35%~21
Prompt Engineering20%~12
Data 360 Fundamentals20%~12
Testing, Deployment, and Maintenance10%~6
Governance and Observability10%~6
Multi-Agent Orchestration5%~3

Counts derived from Salesforce’s percentages against 60 scored questions.

Three sections are 75% of the exam. AI Agents, Prompt Engineering and Data 360 Fundamentals. That is where the great majority of your study belongs.

Multi-Agent Orchestration is about three questions. It covers MCP, A2A and when a multi-agent architecture is appropriate. Know what each is for; do not spend a week there.

Release alignment matters here

Salesforce states that questions align to the Spring ‘26 release. Salesforce ships three releases a year and Agentforce is moving quickly, so material written against an older release may describe a different product.

This also explains the annual maintenance module on Trailhead: the certification expires if you do not complete it, and it exists precisely because the product changes underneath the credential.

What is explicitly out of scope

Salesforce lists what the candidate is not expected to know, and it is a useful ceiling:

  • Configuring or fine-tuning large language models
  • Apex or Python coding basics
  • External AI tools
  • Transformer architecture
  • ROI calculations or white space analysis
  • Marketing Cloud, Heroku, Agentforce Commerce, MuleSoft, Tableau, Slack, Quip or Industry solutions

If your study material is teaching you how transformers work, it is not preparing you for this exam.

Booking

Book through Salesforce. No prerequisite, though Salesforce recommends (without requiring) the Platform Administrator and Platform App Builder certifications, and expects around a year of platform configuration experience.
