The Salesforce Certified Agentforce Specialist exam is for people who design and implement prompt templates and agents on the Salesforce Platform. Salesforce describes it as validating the ability to build agents that reason and act across Salesforce and external channels, aimed at administrators, developers and architects.
Salesforce expects roughly one year of Salesforce platform configuration experience including Data 360, plus hands-on work in Agentforce Agent Builder and Prompt Builder. There is no prerequisite enforced.

Six sections, and AI Agents dominates at 35% — more than a third of the exam. Prompt Engineering and Data 360 follow at 20% each, so those three account for 75% of the paper.
The distinctive content sits at the edges: Multi-Agent Orchestration at 5% covers the open standards MCP and A2A, and Governance and Observability covers the Trust Layer and model access management.
What you are not expected to know
Salesforce is unusually explicit about scope. You do not need: LLM configuration or fine-tuning, Apex or Python, external AI tools, transformer architecture, ROI calculations, or Marketing Cloud, Heroku, MuleSoft, Tableau, Slack, Quip or Industry solutions.
That list is worth reading twice — it rules out a great deal of what people assume an AI certification requires.
Format at a glance
60 multiple-choice questions plus up to five unscored, in 105 minutes. The passing score is a straightforward 72%. Registration is USD 200, retakes USD 100. Offered in English, French and Japanese.
Questions align to the Spring ‘26 release, and the certification requires an annual maintenance module on Trailhead.
