AB-900, Microsoft 365 Copilot and Agent Administration Fundamentals, is Microsoft’s entry-level exam for people who look after a Microsoft 365 tenant in which Copilot and agents are switched on. Passing it earns the Microsoft 365 Certified: Copilot and Agent Administration Fundamentals credential. It is a 45-minute exam with a passing score of 700, and like other Microsoft fundamentals certifications it does not expire.
The name suggests a Copilot exam, but most of the marks are elsewhere. Two of the three skill areas are about Microsoft 365 itself: the admin centers, identity and security, and above all data protection with Microsoft Purview. Copilot is the reason those topics matter now — it can surface anything a user is allowed to open — and the exam is built around that idea.

The data protection domain is the largest. It covers sensitivity labels, DLP, retention, Insider Risk Management, DSPM for AI and oversharing in SharePoint. If you come from a pure Teams or Exchange admin background, this is where most of your study time should go.
Microsoft updates the English version of the exam on October 14, 2026. Its change log describes the change as minor and limited to the core security features objectives. The guides here follow the outline as of that date.
