AB-730 business content and collaboration explained

Updated October 9, 2026

Manage business content and collaboration by using Microsoft 365 Copilot is worth 20–25% of AB-730. It tests how you use Copilot to draft and analyse content from the right sources across Word, Excel and PowerPoint, how you check the result against the business goal, and how you use the AI features around meetings and shared work. The skill underneath is judgement: choosing the right source and the right app, then verifying.

The outline has two groups: drafting and analysing business content, and managing meetings and collaboration.

Draft and analyse business content

Sources: Work IQ and connectors

Copilot’s answers can draw on the information it has about your work (Work IQ) and on connectors that bring in sources beyond Microsoft 365. The outline asks you to connect to those sources, to generate or analyse content from a specific business context, and to derive insights across Work IQ. The scenario signal is a request that depends on something outside your usual Microsoft 365 content, such as a line-of-business system.

The right app for the content

NeedTypical app
Draft a report, proposal or summaryWord
Analyse figures, spot trends, build a chartExcel
Turn material into a presentationPowerPoint
Reply, summarise a threadOutlook

The outline also says you may generate or analyse content across multiple applications. A common pattern is to analyse in Excel, then bring the findings into a Word draft or a PowerPoint deck.

Images, visuals and charts

Copilot can generate images, visuals and charts that support business content. The exam angle is purpose: a chart should fit the data and the audience, and an image should support the message. Generated visuals still need a human check for accuracy and appropriateness.

Interpret and validate

You must interpret and validate that AI-generated content meets business goals. Ask: does it answer the brief, are the numbers right, does it match the audience and tone, and is it based on the right sources? Content that reads well but misses the goal is the typical wrong answer.

Meetings and collaboration

CapabilityWhat it is for
Prepare for a meetingGet ready beforehand with relevant context
Facilitator agentSupport the meeting itself, such as agenda and notes
Real-time catchupLet a late joiner understand what has been discussed
Intelligent recapA summary after the meeting
Copilot PagesA shared space to work on content together

The distinction that matters is timing: before the meeting, during it, and after it. Pages come in when a group wants to co-create something that outlives a single chat.

Three practice questions

Question 1. An analyst needs Copilot to build a quarterly summary that includes data held in a line-of-business system outside Microsoft 365. What should be set up so that Copilot can use that data?

  • A. Schedule the prompt to run weekly
  • B. A connector to that system
  • C. Rename the chat to the system name
  • D. Delete older chats
Show answer

Answer: B

Connectors bring sources beyond Microsoft 365 into Copilot, which fits data held in another system. Scheduling a prompt only repeats a request. Renaming a chat does not add data. Deleting chats is unrelated to bringing in new sources.

Question 2. A manager has asked Copilot to draft a client update. The text is fluent, but it does not mention the two commitments the client cares most about. What is the best next step?

  • A. Check the draft against the goal and refine the prompt to include the two commitments
  • B. Send it, because it reads well
  • C. Add a chart to the draft
  • D. Create a recap for an unrelated meeting
Show answer

Answer: A

The draft does not meet the business goal, so validate it against the brief and refine the prompt to cover the missing commitments. Sending it because it reads well ignores the goal. Generating a chart does not fix the missing content. Starting a new meeting recap is unrelated.

Question 3. A project team wants a shared place to build a project brief together while discussing it with Copilot, and to keep the result afterwards. Which feature fits best?

  • A. Real-time catchup
  • B. A saved prompt
  • C. Copilot Pages
  • D. Intelligent recap
Show answer

Answer: C

Copilot Pages gives a team a shared space to collaborate on content. Real-time catchup serves a late joiner in a meeting. A saved prompt stores one instruction. Intelligent recap summarises a finished meeting.

How to study this domain

Make a three-column list of meeting features by timing: before, during, after. Then practise one cross-app task end to end, such as analysing data, drafting the summary and checking it against the brief. The study plan places this domain in week 3.
