Free 200-901 sample questions with answers
Here are five free 200-901 sample questions drawn from five of the six domains, with the answer and the reasoning behind it. Try each one before opening the answer. These are original scenario questions written against the official exam topics, not questions from the real exam. The sixth domain, software development and design, is covered in the practice test.
Question 1. A Python script sends a POST request to create a resource. The API replies with HTTP 400 and a JSON body saying that a required field is missing. What should the developer do?
- A. Add the missing field to the request body and send it again
- B. Request a new access token
- C. Retry the same request after a few minutes
- D. Change the method from POST to PUT
Show answer
Answer: A
400 means the request itself is malformed, and the response body names the missing field, so the fix is to correct the request body against the API documentation. A new token would address a 401. Retrying later helps with 5xx errors or rate limits, not with a bad body. Changing the method to PUT does not supply the missing field.

Question 2. A script must list all devices in one Meraki network. Which sequence matches how the Meraki Dashboard API is organised?
- A. Query the devices first and filter them by name
- B. Call a SOAP login, then request a device list
- C. Use the API key to get the organization, then its networks, then the network’s devices
- D. Log in with a username to get a cookie, then call the fabric endpoint
Show answer
Answer: C
Meraki organises resources as organizations, which contain networks, which contain devices, and authenticates with an API key. The script therefore identifies the organization, finds the network, then lists its devices. Starting with devices skips the hierarchy. A SOAP interface belongs to CUCM AXL. Meraki does not use a login call that returns a session cookie for this purpose.

Question 3. A Dockerfile ends with the lines EXPOSE 8000 and CMD python app.py. A developer builds the image as webapp and wants the app reachable at port 80 on the host. Which command should they run?
- A. docker run webapp
- B. docker build -p 80:8000 webapp
- C. docker run -p 8000:80 webapp
- D. docker run -p 80:8000 webapp
Show answer
Answer: D
docker run with -p 80:8000 maps host port 80 to container port 8000. EXPOSE documents the port but does not publish it. Reversing the mapping would publish host port 8000 to container port 80, where nothing listens. docker build is for creating the image and does not start a container.

Question 4. An engineer retrieves interface configuration from a switch using an HTTPS call that returns data structured according to a YANG model, formatted as JSON. Which interface is being used?
- A. NETCONF
- B. RESTCONF
- C. SNMP
- D. CLI output parsing
Show answer
Answer: B
RESTCONF accesses YANG-modelled data using HTTP methods over HTTPS, with JSON or XML. NETCONF uses XML over SSH. SNMP uses its own protocol and MIBs rather than YANG over HTTPS. Parsing CLI output is unstructured and not model driven.

Question 5. A new laptop joins the network but receives no IP configuration automatically. Other laptops on the same VLAN get addresses without trouble. Which service should be checked first?
- A. DHCP
- B. DNS
- C. NTP
- D. NAT
Show answer
Answer: A
Automatic IP addressing is delivered by DHCP, so the client’s DHCP request and the server or relay should be checked first. DNS resolves names after addressing exists. NTP only synchronises clocks. NAT translates addresses at a boundary and does not assign them.
