200-301 is the single exam behind Cisco’s Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification. Its official title is Implementing and Administering Cisco Solutions. It lasts 120 minutes and tests whether you can configure, verify and troubleshoot a small to medium enterprise network: IP addressing and subnetting, switching with VLANs and spanning tree, routing with static routes and OSPF, NAT, access lists, wireless basics and, in the newest blueprint, network operations with automation and AI.
There are no formal prerequisites. Cisco states that none are required, and a passed exam earns the CCNA, which is valid for three years.
The exam code has stayed the same since 2020, but the content has not. Cisco published a v2.0 blueprint that regroups the topics into five domains and adds troubleshooting and AI content. This site follows the v2.0 outline; the exam format page explains the version timing, which you should check when you book.
What the exam covers
| Domain (v2.0) | Weight |
|---|---|
| 1.0 Network Infrastructure and Connectivity | 25% |
| 2.0 Switching and Network Access | 25% |
| 3.0 IP Routing | 20% |
| 4.0 Network Services and Security | 20% |
| 5.0 AI, and Network Operations and Management | 10% |
Subnetting and IPv6 sit in the first domain, VLANs, trunks, EtherChannel and Rapid PVST+ in the second, static routing, OSPF and first hop redundancy in the third, and NAT, ACLs, AAA and Layer 2 security in the fourth. The last domain covers SNMP, syslog, Ansible, management approaches and the role of AI.
Where to start
Read the exam format for the mechanics and the version situation, then CCNA vs Network+ if you are choosing between the two networking certifications. The study plan fits in four weeks if you already work with networks, and the five domain guides take one blueprint area each. Finish with the free 20-question practice test.
