IT certification exam changes tracker
Certification bodies revise exam objectives, retire versions and replace whole exams, often with limited notice. This page tracks the changes affecting the exams covered on this site, so you find out before you book rather than after.

Recent and confirmed changes

No exam covered on this site is currently announced for retirement. Where a row says “current version”, it means that exam is the one being offered today and no successor has been announced — not that it will never change.
What usually changes, and what it means for you
Objective reweighting. The most common change, and the easiest to miss. The exam code stays the same, the domains stay the same, but the percentages shift. Study material written against the previous weighting sends you to the wrong places. Always check the current skills outline on the vendor’s own page before you start, not a summary.
Version replacement. CompTIA does this on a regular cycle: N10-008 becomes N10-009, and the old version is retired after an overlap period. If you have already started studying, check which version your voucher is for.
Outright replacement. Microsoft retired AI-102 and introduced AI-103, which is not a renamed exam — the content shifted markedly towards agents, retrieval-augmented generation and running AI in production. Anyone who prepared for AI-102 and sat AI-103 without re-reading the outline would have been caught out.
Retirement with no successor. Happens when a vendor consolidates a product line. Credentials already earned normally remain valid until their expiry, but the exam can no longer be taken.
How to check for yourself
Three habits are worth more than any tracker, including this one:
- Read the vendor’s own skills outline the week you start studying, and again the week you book. It is the only authoritative source, and it is usually a PDF or a page that quietly changes date.
- Check the exam page for a retirement notice before paying. Vendors post these on the exam page rather than emailing candidates.
- Be sceptical of third-party summaries, including paid courses. Course content lags official changes by months, and some never updates at all.
Things vendors do not publish
Worth knowing, because the absence is often filled with invention:
- Databricks does not publish passing scores for its certifications. Any specific percentage you see quoted is a guess.
- CompTIA does not publish a single global price for Network+; it varies by region and voucher route.
- Several vendors do not publish the number of questions, only a time limit, because forms vary.
Where a figure is not published, the exam pages on this site say so rather than inventing one.

Each exam section here is reviewed against the vendor’s official page periodically, and this table is updated when something material changes. If you spot a change before we do, tell us — it is genuinely useful.
